Some Gave All – All Gave Some

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, the Winsted Veterans Memorial was dedicated to all the Veterans and current Members of the Armed Forces of the Winsted area who have sacrificed everything so we can be safe at home, in our peaceful community.

Over the past few months, a solid team of dedicated volunteers has spent countless hours planning, developing and creating a Memorial our Community can be proud of.

Thanks to the amazing work of these selfless individuals, the Winsted Veterans Memorial became what it is today, and what it will be for generations to come – a staple in our City, in our County and in our State.

The volunteers hard work culminated this past Sunday, September 15, 2019, with the dedication of the Winsted Veterans Memorial. The solemn ceremony was touching. Led by an icon in our small community, Mr Kielkucki, the hundreds of spectators were moved to tears by his heartfelt thank you to our Troops.

Following his speech, Mr K. invited everyone to go and pay their respect to the hundreds of local Veterans to whom their families had paid homage by reserving plaques.

Littfin Design took part in the project while designing the Memorial. Five columns were erected in a pentagon to evoke the five branches of the Armed Forces. Each of the pergolas leading to the plaque display commemorates a specific branch of the Armed Forces.

Each column boasts quotes by various people, musing on the different wars, and the times of peacekeeping. Some of those quoted may be illustrious generals, and some may be your next door neighbor, because on a battlefield, the enemy does not discriminate by rank.

When you get a chance, we highly recommend you stop by, and take a moment to thank all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by selflessly enrolling in the Armed Forces.
