8- The New Must-Haves for Today’s Home – The Gourmet Kitchen

The kitchen island goes without saying, as do the low maintenance surface. But what makes a kitchen gourmet? It’s a combination of appliances and design.

On the appliances front, you could consider a six-burner range, double ovens, a stacked oven/microwave wall, a 4-foot wide fridge, maybe even a separate fridge and freezer. These are all classic appliances we have all heard about.

How about a pot filler? A pot filler is a water spicket that is mounted on the wall directly adjacent to your range. It usually has a cold water hook-up, and its purpose is to prevent you from lifting pots filled to the brim with water from the sink to the stove-top. Can you imagine? No more awkward tilting of a full pot of water, dumping half of it in the process because the rim of the pot is too high to fit under the faucet straight through, and now you don’t have enough water in your pot and you need to add water with a glass, which, let’s be honest, was not originally intended for water. Ugh. Just get a pot filler.

Another wonderful consideration for your kitchen is a pantry. It can be a walk-in pantry or a dedicated closet. Having a pantry in your kitchen will keep your dry good organized and away from your cooking and prepping areas. It will also help you keep everything nice and neat. What’s not to love?

Finally, let’s mention in passing a spice station, maybe a coffee bar, multiple outlets for all your kitchen gadgets – all small things that could save you lots of frustration down the road.
